Hippie’s Waterfall – El Yunque

Hippie’s Waterfall – El Yunque

If you are hunting for a great waterfall in the El Yunque National Forest then Hippie’s Waterfall, or Salto del Hippie, should be on your short list. The rocks are amazingly smooth and make for a more relaxing afternoon than some of the other local waterfalls. Hippie’s Waterfall makes for a great picnic area or just a fun day at the waterfalls. The one warning or caution is that you should pay attention to the rate of water flow. There are times of the year that it can be quite slow and easy going, but it can also become a beast roaring to life with some heavy rain, even rain that fell days prior.

Finding: Please feel free to use our map located below. We have also marked the route / road you take, it is not marked as a road on google maps, but it is there. Do not be fooled by the fact it appears to be a driveway. There is a parking area at the end of the road.

Access: You can drive all the way up to Hippie’s Waterfall parking area, then take a very minor hike down to the waterfall from the parking area.

The following images and video came from a time of the year where rain was really heavy.

Mountain Outlook in Moca Puerto Rico image 8

Mountain Outlook – Moca

The mountain outlook in Moca, Puerto Rico is located off to the side of route PR-110. It is a back road between the Isabela-Aguadilla area and the Aguadilla-Aguada-Rincon area, passing through Moca. The best part is that not only is this back road’s scenery beautiful, but this route will quite possibly save you time as well. Depending on the time of day PR-2 can get extremely congested and become a slow bumper to bumper traffic jam.

The Mountain Outlook in Moca is accessed by pulling off the side of the road into what looks like a deceleration zone. It will get you far enough off of PR-110 that you will be fine.

If the weather is good and clear, you will be able to see for miles. Because this outlook is on the side of a mountain you will have the opportunity to take some great pictures of the entire Moca valley!

Puerto Rico Women's Volleyball Championship

Criollas de Caguas Women’s Volleyball Champions

Women’s Volleyball is one of the most popular sports in Puerto Rico.  The video of the Criollas de Caguas Championship match included should be proof enough. The crowd goes absolutely crazy throughout the entire match. I haven’t seen this kind of an atmosphere outside of Duke vs UNC basketball.

You can find additional women’s volleyball information on the official site Liga De Voleibol Superior Femenino.

This Championship was the eighth one for Criollas de Caguas. Their Championship years are 1996, 1997, 1998, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2005, and 2011. The following players were on the 2011 roster: #1 Annerys Vargas Valdez, #3 Stacey Gordon, #5 Brenda Castillo, #6 Stephanie Enright, #7 Michelle Nogueras, #8 Yahir Molina, #9 Joedly Narvaez, #10 Diana Reyes, #11 Gloria Ortega, #12 Odemaris Diaz, #13 Shirley Ferrer, and #18 Bethania De La Cruz.

Following the match, the entire team went into downtown Caguas for a big celebration. This celebration was a lot of fun and was really memorable because we were able to meet the members of Criollas de Caguas and even hold the Championship Trophy.

We highly recommend you take in a Volleyball game if you are in Puerto Rico during their season.
