Indicators – Surf Spot in Rincon

Indicators – Surf Spot in Rincon

Indicators is located in Rincon, along the most popular strip of beach in all of Puerto Rico. The most noticeable landmark letting you know you are at Indicators is the Rincon Lighthouse, which we have pictured below. The surf break is located at the bottom of the lighthouse’s southern cliff. There is a small gazebo type of structure within the Rincon Lighthouse Park, which will give you a great overhead view of the break. This elevated position should also help you decide if the conditions are good enough to paddle out. Read more

Hole in the Wall – Surf Spot in Aguadilla

Hole in the Wall – Surf Spot in Aguadilla

Hole in the Wall is a unique break in the stretch of beach making up Aguadilla Bay. This wave is a right breaking wave that forms next to a small rock jetty. It can get nice and hallow, but it can also get crowded. It also suffers from backwash, which you can see in some of the pictures below.

One thing to remember about Hole in the Wall, and the rest of Aguadilla Bay is that it requires a large swell to break. The reason for this is that Aguadilla Bay is shielded from the large winter swells because the land here inverts inwards causing the swell to wrap around the far northwest point of the island and back into the bay.

This is one of three breaks right in downtown Aguadilla. The other two are Schoolyards and Bridges.

Table Top – Surf Spot in Aguadilla

Table Top – Surf Spot in Aguadilla

Table Top in Aguadilla Puerto Rico is personally one of my favorite waves. When the wave rolls in next to the flat rock it stands up quick and creates a great barrel. You can get close enough to touch the rock and still be in good position. The only down side to this wave is the CROWD, as it is usually congested with bodyboarders. However, from time to time you will see it empty, and if you do, paddle over there quick. You can paddle to table top from Surfers Beach or walk east along the coastline. There is one exposed rock on the inside that you need to keep any eye on, but overall a manageable wave.

As with almost every surf spot in Puerto Rico, the water is super clear. The one thing you will notice more from Wilderness to Surfers / Table Top is the large number of Sea Turtles “Tortuga Marina”. It is an awesome thing to see while you are out there.

Finding Table Top is the same as finding Surfers Beach. Find your way to Surf Zone Surf Shop and go just a bit past it to the East. There will be an open gate to your left and a secured gate in front of you, TURN LEFT. That gate remains open all the time so do not worry about getting locked in or out of the break. Take that road all the way down until it turns to dirt and continue on to the dead end parking area. HAVE FUN!

Gas Chambers – Surf Spot in Aguadilla

Gas Chambers – Surf Spot in Aguadilla

Gas Chambers has recently been ranked as one of the top 100 surf spots in the world. Surprisingly it was given that honor even though it is far from being one of the more consistent spots. The break is just North of Crash Boats and is accessed from the Crash Boat parking lot.

Our original pictures of Gas Chambers came from a day where the surf was completely flat. We have added some additional pictures showing swell, unfortunately they still don’t give justice to the quality of wave you can see here. We will continue to hunt for the perfect day to post some really epic photos and videos.
