Cabo Rojo Lighthouse, Los Morrillos – Cabo Rojo

On the far southwest tip of Puerto Rico you will find the Cabo Rojo Lighthouse, or El Faro Los Morrillos, standing on a scenic cliff. It began service on August 20th, 1882 and still runs today. The location is quite popular and the scenery is outstanding! You can visit the exterior of the lighthouse any day, but the interior is only open Wednesday through Sunday.

Caution: The cliffs here are quite large so if you have small children you may want to plan accordingly. If you are afraid of heights don’t worry as there is plenty of space for viewing the lighthouse without going near the cliff.

Stuff Near By: Just down the trail from the lighthouse you will find a beautiful white sand beach that we marked on our map.

Getting Here: (Please feel free to use our map below, which you can also save to google maps on your smartphone) The roads leading to the lighthouse are perfectly good, but as you start to get really close it will change to a dirt road. Once you hit the dirt road you should be cautious. On our map below we ended our red line marking the route where there is a small parking lot. We recommend you park there, but the option exists to drive to a parking lot near the beach, but usually that requires a 4×4 vehicle.
